ASIA PACIFIC COUNTRIES Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)

The Asian Pacific region is dominated by LNG regasification terminals. While only one LNG regasification terminal currently exists in the People's Republic of China, twenty eight are operating in Japan. In addition to these facilities, three LNG regasification terminals are located in the Republic of India, one is located in Taiwan (Republic of China) and four are located in the Republic of South Korea. There are approximately forty additional LNG regasification terminal projects proposed or under construction in this region, including the Republic of China, the Republic of India, Japan, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Singapore, the Republic of South Korea, the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Taiwan (Republic of China) and the Kingdom of Thailand. Although the Republic of the Philippines has two proposed LNG regasification terminal projects, a recent gas field discovery, with potential reserves of 20 trillion cubic feet, northwest of Palawan Island has led to the consideration of a potential LNG liquefaction terminal project as well. Countries with large proven natural gas reserves, such as Malaysia (also known as Persekutuan Tanah Malaysia), maintain this region's LNG liquefaction terminals. Malaysia (also known as Persekutuan Tanah Malaysia) has three LNG liquefaction terminals currently in operation. Additional LNG liquefaction terminal projects have been proposed or are currently operating in the Union of Myanmar, the State of Brunei Darussalem and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. click here to see maps

AFRICA Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)

Nine LNG liquefaction terminals are located in the Republic of Algeria, Libya (also known as the Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya), the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Considering the fact that countries such as Nigeria possess some of the largest proven natural gas reserves in the world, it is not surprising that 18 additional LNG liquefaction terminal projects are proposed or under construction in this region. Some of the countries considering these projects include the Republic of Angola, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, the Kingdom of Morocco, the Republic of Namibia, and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. There are no existing LNG regasification marine terminals on the African continent, although four are proposed, one in the Republic of Kenya, one in the Republic of South Africa and two in the Canary Islands (Islas Canarias), an island territory of Spain.
